Our Tai Chi Program
About Our Tai Chi Class
Our Tai Chi classes are specifically geared towards individuals who are having general health problems or who are looking to improve their well being. It is a martial art that helps bring the body back into balance from physical, mental, or spiritual strain.
The gentle movements, combined with mindfulness of the body, allow an individual to increase circulation to injured areas and thus heal conditions that are difficult to treat. The slow pace allows one to truly connect with their body in order to re-establish a feeling of oneness while clearing the mind of distractions, stress, and negative emotions. This is a great class for elderly folks who are looking to improve their health through physical exercise, but need something that is not quite so strenuous.
About Tai Chi
Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art of moving meditation which contains gentle exercises to improve and develop health, strength, tranquility and emotional well-being. It is a form of continuous movement which harmonizes one with the universe that inherently possesses Yin (negative and soft) and Yang (positive and hard).
Yin and Yang are opposites which, when balanced, provide self unity. In a suitable and harmonized condition, they will counteract and develop, but in an unsuitable and unharmonized state, they will repel one another and disturb balance and unity.
Some of the many benefits of Tai Chi include:
- Improved sense of Well Being
- Improved Balance, Coordination, and Flexibility
- Improved Breathing/Lung Capacity
- Improved Mobility
- Increased Circulation
- May help relieve symptoms of arthritis
- May lower blood pressure
